Below are the answers to some of our most frequently asked questions.

Q: Who can we help?

A: We aim to help severely disabled people of all ages; this could include those with significant sensory, physical, and intellectual impairments and those with complex and challenging behavioural needs.

Q: Who can't we help?

A: As our funds are limited, we cannot provide donations for some conditions, for instance, those disabilities which arise because of the normal aging process. Items such as deposits for housing, vehicles, and loans are not within our remit. We are unlikely to provide grants for salaries. We do not fund money directly to other charities.

Q: How we can help?

A: We can pay for, (or in some cases, help pay towards), specific items or services which will make a positive difference to the quality of life of individuals or groups. Examples of the type of assistance we have given in the past can be found on this website - Funded Items. Please note, we do not give 'hard cash' but order and pay for the items where funding has been agreed.

Q: How much can we give?

A: Whilst there is no 'official' upper limit to the amount we can offer and applications are treated on their merit, we are a small charity with limited funds and grants of above £5000 for organisations, and £1000 for individuals would be relatively rare. Special cases will be considered.

Q: Who can apply?

A: Applications are welcomed from individuals, professional workers and representatives of organisations and institutions. Where the request is from a private individual, a letter of support from a professional worker involved with the disabled person, (e.g. therapist, doctor, teacher etc), would be appreciated, and in the case of specialised equipment it is essential.

Q: How is an application made?

A: Initially by filling in a short application form. This can be done:

  • On-line from our website, click here
  • By completing the form attached to our information leaflet which you can request by phone or email (please refer to the Contact Us section).
  • Organisations may prefer to send documentation supporting their request together with the application form to our freepost address
  • Our Fund Manager will contact you within two weeks of receiving your application to discuss your request in more detail.

Q: Which areas do we cover?

A: We operate primarily in the Midlands, North West and Yorkshire.

    Q: Any other queries?

A: Please contact us if you require more information.
